Message from
the President of the Board

As the newly elected President of the Board of Directors I have the privilege of welcoming all of you to the Mission Neighborhood Centers, Inc. an anchor nonprofit in the Mission district about to celebrate its 50th Anniversary on April 23, 2010.

MNC has a legacy of providing quality multi-cultural, multi-generational safety net services. It has become a backbone institution for San Francisco’s vulnerable children, families and seniors by providing a continuum of programs that support an individual’s life span. Through high quality early childhood and youth development programs as well as senior services, MNC reaches across generations providing culturally appropriate services that improve the quality of life of thousands of families city-wide

Having been raised in the Mission district during my formative years I am fully aware the difference that this organization has made for almost 50 years. MNC has an amazing track record in the community, and it is now expanding its horizons by providing those same ser­vices into different parts of our great city.

As a member of the board of directors I am fortunate to be serving with respected members of our community who work diligently to improve the quality of life for all members of our city, these dedicated San Franciscans ensure that MNC meets its mission statement every day by supporting the or­ganization and its staff. The vision of the board, the Executive Director, and staff is to overcome obstacles and create meaningful change that empowers families and builds strong, healthy and vibrant neighborhoods.

So on behalf of the board of directors, the Executive Director Sam Ruiz and over 145 dedicated MNC staff we thank you for your interest and support of all we do and join us in our celebration of 50 years of community empowerment.
